Schulze’s astrological design depicting signs of the zodiac is framed by two sinuous poppies, a popular motif of the Art Nouveau period. Based in a converted church hall in Blackheath, south London, Mary Evans Picture Library has been supplying vintage imagery to a range of clients since 1964. Drawing from its vast archive of books, periodicals, prints, photographs and ephemera, it’s a treasure trove of the unique, the nostalgic and the unexpected, where pictures pave the way from the present day to the past.
